Dear Educators,
As partners in creating nurturing spaces for young minds and hearts to grow, we’d love to share a few resources from WiseMind’s Emotion Coaching program that you are welcome to explore and use with your students.
Whether or not you currently have a student participating in our program, these practices are simple, powerful, and can be integrated into any classroom environment to support emotional regulation, focus, and resilience. We recommend practicing a tool daily for three weeks to gain meaningful clarity about how it can support you, then sharing it with students.
Our Project
Our Emotion Coaching Project page offers a short video introduction to our work with students—including how mindfulness, movement, and biofeedback are being used to nurture emotional awareness and thriving.
Meet the Team
Each coach brings unique expertise in child development, trauma-sensitive practices, and neuroscience. You can learn more about the team and the coach working at your school here.
Learn the Science
If you’re curious about the science behind the techniques we’re introducing, these brief videos offer helpful background:
These tools are simple enough to be woven into daily routines and powerful enough to support a student's nervous system in real time.
Note: the HeartMath videos refer to Heart Breathing as “Quick Coherence”. We call it Heart Breathing because we think it’s easier to remember and more inviting to want to practice!
Here’s a tip sheet offering easy-to-use practices that can be adapted for classrooms. We invite you to try them out with your students!
Students participating in the Emotion Coaching program received a copy of either Peanut & the BIG Feelings or Jamie’s Gift, written by our founder, Jenifer Trivelli. These guidebooks offer approachable language and imagery to help children understand and navigate big emotions—and may be a wonderful addition to your own classroom tools for emotional literacy. Our school partners typically receive a copy for either the library or the counseling office - please let us know if your school doesn’t have one or if you’d like a copy for your classroom.
We deeply appreciate all you do to hold space for children to learn, grow, and connect. If you have questions or feedback to share about our work, please feel welcome to get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
